Default Quick exhaust question

I just picked up a Yonaka catback for my 98 hatch. The system is made to bolt up to the stock Y7 exhaust. My question is, could I bolt my aftermarket header, with no cat or test pipe, to my midpipe? Will the flange at the end of the header, where the cat would bolt to, meet up with the flange at the end of the DX midpipe. I'm not worried about emissions testing, as I'm exempt from being tested.

if the exhaust has a 3 bolt flange(which it should) it will not bolt up to the header collector. Down pipe ? unless your car is turbo'd you don't have one. I recommend a telescoping test pipe it will solve the issue. BWR skunk2 and PLM sell them for 50$.

Never said I had a down pipe. I have a stock Y7, so my mid pipe has a two bolt flange, so does my Yonaka system, and so does the collector. The header looks long enough to have the collector meet at the mid pipe I just want to be sure before I rip it all down and realize it doesn't fit.

My bad on my phone lol um they will both be 2 bolt flanges however if you look at the collector and doughnut gasket on there it will not create a proper seal on where the collector meets the mid section of the exhaust. the cat or test pipe both have a cone shape connector the fit just over the doughnut gasket to create a proper seal. So no it won't properly fit

No doubt man. It should fit properly. The cat back I have is made for the dx and cx models with the stock y7 mani installed. I have the system installed now on the stock y7 mani, with donut gasket, and its tight as a tiger. The flange at the end of the mid pipe is flared to accept a donut gasket. I actually just found a picture on d-series.org what shows a header with the collector bolted straight up to the stock dx system. I answered my own question Thanks for your help dude.
