Default Quick ECU question, Check engine light with chipped p28.

Im not very familiar with ecu's. I have an obd2b ecu and i got the jumper harness to obd1. I got a p28 off a friend wit the same motor as me. He gave me a custom all motor chip and a universal mugen chip. I tested out both chips and i get the same problem. When i go full throttle or vtec the check engine light comes on. It goes away when i turn off and on the car. It just keeps coming back whenever the rpms get too high. Is this a normal problem?

Summary:
Obd2b -> obd1
p28 ecu
chipped /w custom all motor
also have mugen chip
[ Both chips get check engine light after higher rpms or full throttle ]

Your help and comments appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Additional info: ECU came off b16a2. Same motor as me. I/H/E on both cars. Except friends car has ctr cams. His is a coupe, mines a hatchback. Dont know if any of this is relevant. Does the basemap have anything to do with this?

did u convert everything to obd1.. like the idle air controll valve...i converted a friends 88 crx si to obd 1 the other day.. and i had to manually wire int the 4 wire o2 the vtec solinoid vtec pressure switch and knock sensor and i had to ad an obd1 distributor.... i had to repin it and it was a bitch..

i think u need to check up make shure u have everything u need to run that obd1 computer correctly..i think u need to use a obd1 dizzy to. im not positive on obd2 to obd1 tho.. but.. run your codes.. it doesnt matter if they dont turn on when the car just starts or not.. the computer stores them until u reset it by removing both battery terminals

heres how to check the codes.. dont mind the 92-95 civic.. its the same thing... there should be a 2 pin connector just like the one shown on ur car.. read the flashes.. post it here and ill tell u whats wrong...

now reading flashes.. there is a good 2-3 second pause inbetween each code...

one long flash is 10 2 long flashes is 20
one short flash is 1 2 short flashes is 2 and so on

it will never count more than 9 with only short flashes.. it however many long flashes and however many short flashes right after the longs no pause...

like say you get 2 long flashes and 1 short flash would be code 21 for vtec and so on.. just remember there is a pause inbetween each code... so dont get confused its easy to read
