Icon5 Quick Basic ATF question 2000 Civic LX (solved)

For all you knowledgeable Honda owners...

Sorry for the simple question, but I had some guy I wasn't too confident in flush and fill my ATF.

in checking the dipstick as directed in manual. Engine hot, level ground, turn off.... it appears to run up 1cm past the max fill etching. My question is , is it possible that this is just ATF on the side of the dipstick tube or after wiping clean 5X +/- and it still having red ATF fluid past the max line its overfilled?

Note on pic, I dried the dip and there is a faint amount of fluid on arrow to the left. There is a noticeable heavier amount of fluid just past max fill on COLD, but Im not sure if you check where it is thicker which is in the etched markings??? i took pic when it was cold. (I realize you check when hot) just fyi.
Thanks

I'd say the transmission is definitely overfilled. It's easy enough to drain a little out: there should be a drain plug near the bottom of the transmission case with a 3/8 square drive for a ratchet. Just drain a little bit at a time and keep checking until the level is solidly in between the lines.

Thanks! I have been having shifting problems where it is delayed in up shifting. Ironically I drove 1700 miles NYC --> TX and didn't have any issues, but Im in hill country and noticing it here. Ill try that...really appreciate the quick reply.

Follow up.... so I went in and had fluid drained. That level correlated with at least a full PINT of fluid. I am so lucky this #Q#@$as# that filled it didnt end up blowing my seals. For me, I had no foaming as suggested or leaks, but just poor upshifting. Now it definitely shifts super clean and better. Just wanted to let you know @BlackLX4 , thanks again. Seems to have potentially saved a huge problem had I blown seals!
