Questions regarding replacing RF axle assembly in 95 Coupe EX - And part source?
I had the outer right side CV boot go on a 95 Coupe EX (manual, non-ABS). Threw all the grease. I've been driving on it for some time (I know), but in 100% dry conditions, and the joint is also totally quiet w/no chatter or knocking yet. That said, it of course needs to be replaced.
I am trying to time this maintenance with an alignment, which itself is pending a wheel swap. Unrelated to the axle issue I hit a very large pot hole last winter, left front side, which I believe screwed up my factory perfect alignment and possibly dented the original steel wheel.
Does the limited disassembly required to replace the front axle have any effect on alignment?
Also, I am interested in acquiring an original part, as I would get from a dealer (but definitely not at their prices). Will prob have a dealer install it for me. I suspect a rebuilt unit is fine. Anway, the source I used in years past (BC Imports/hparts.com) is no longer around. Any suggestions for online wholesale price sources? Thoughts on rebuilt versus new? And does anyone know who OEM'd the original axles?
A bunch of question, but thanks in advance.

the cv axle replacement should not have an effect on your alignment. I'm not completely sure, someone will have to back me up on this, but on the other vehicles that I've replaced the axle on I never had to get an alignment.
Take the wheel off, remove the spindle lock nut from the center of the wheel
Not sure if on the civics you have to unbolt the axle, but my other car I just had to pry the axle out of the car and replace it. 25 minute job, took me an hour to do both sides.
But like I said, Not sure about the doing it on a civic.

Thanks for the reply.
Did you lose tranny fluid? I don't know why you would, but I've read in threads that some transmission fluid comes out on manuals when pulling the axle. Seems strange.
