Questions regarding civic regular maintenance
Hi all,
I have a 93 honda civic and I have some questions regarding its regular maintenance.
1) How often should I change the fuel filter, break fluid, transmission fluid?
2) What is an engine flush and how often should I do it?
3) How often should I change the air fiilter? Can I do it my self and if yes, where is it located? I think it is inside the black box on the front right side? However, I was unable to open it using a philip screw driver? Is there an easy way to get the filter out?
4) How often does the brake pads last? My front brake pads were changed 35K miles before and at that time, I was told that my rear backs were 50% worn off. So far, I have never heared any kind of sound while braking and I am assuming that my brakes will make some sort of squeaking noise to let me know that the pads need to be changed. Is that a wrong assumption to make?
Most of my driving involves driving on freeways with almost 90% of my miles being highway miles.
I would really appreciate any help regarding it.
Thanx,

Re: Questions regarding civic regular maintenance (abcddcba)
Hey hope this helps, this is how I maintain my '93 Del Sol Si
Change Intervals
Fuel Filter: 35K miles
Tranny Fluid: 10K miles
Air Filter: 10k miles
Oil/Oil Filter: 2500 Miles
As far as the stuff listed above its pretty easy to do all of them yourself but I would suggest going to your local car parts store and investing on a Haynes or Chilton manual to guide you through the steps if you arent familiar with basic maintence, I also dont reccomend engine flushes, just change your oil religiously and use high quality oil and oil filters, and brakes usually last quite a while 50k+ miles or so of regular driving if you drive mostly highway they will probably last you quite a while since you dont use them as much
