Default Questions about the yakima rack

-Where is the cheapest place to buy one?
-How much am I looking to spend? (rough estimate)
-Do I have to get a specific model to match my cars make/model?
-Do you think it will look lame on my EK?

I dont plan on actually USING the rack I only want it for looks it makes the car not seem so tiny, also makes it more "custom" I guess. Thats why I am looking for a deal.

It looks lame as hell on an EG but sick as fuhhh on an integra

How do you think it looks on an EK? This one seems different than the integra one.

Ummm did I just read that right? So you are willing to spend $200-300 for something that is going to decrease gas mileage, scratch your paint, and have a higher chance of having door leaks to make your car "look" bigger? wow.

How will it decrease gas mileage? It cant weigh THAT much.

EDIT: Just thought about it, im assuming you mean it will mess up the air flow around the car and cause drag?

i dont think weight really plays a factor in it. it interferes with the wind pretty badly and behind a semi it will make your car kinda rock back and forth. it takes some getting used to. make sure you buy the fairing to go with it tho cuz without it it will be worse. the fairing is like $65.

The fairing is the best looking part IMO.

holy crap. dude. I know everyones allowed to do what they want, but dont slap a rack on your car just because it looks cool. You will lose MPG. Buy a bike and go ride so you can use the rack.

Build your car for YOURSELF, not what you see on here. And if you wanna impress anyone on here, you need to drop 15-20 THOUSAND bucks or your car will just blend in with the crowd. You're gonna feel like **** when your bank account is wiped out and you have a car that you didn't dream up or even know what the hell is on it, just that some guy on honda-tech told you it's cool and you should get it. Bike rack for looks LOL. I'm sorry but this is just sad. I suppose that's why you're into JDM too, because it's "cool". I've had 8 Hondas, and every one of them had parts on it that I wanted, not some hard parkers who spend all their money on their Honda and live with mom and dad. Not being a dick, but you need to find some sort of perspective here. If you really wanna build a car for other people, save the money and invest it until you find something you like yourself.

For looks? That's pretty low.

The previous owner had one of those on my hatch and it wore through the paint in four spots and screwed up the weather stripping on the doors.

Alright i have had one on my car for the past year and a half. Here is my .02 cents:

The EK hatch looks different because of the way the Q-towers sit on the door. it makes the actual bike rack move in a upward position. Its the same rack, just differs on how it sits on the car.

The rack does make you loose some MPG. I notice around a 5 mpg decrease but doesnt matter because i can use my bikes!!!

I agree with everyone that the bike rack does look nice but dont get it for just looks, I actually have a purpose for them thats the reason i got them.

My setup cost almost 700 for the complete setup. If you are looking for a used set make sure that the Q-towers are made for your car or else it will be just a waste of money.

Hope this helps!

Yeah if you buy everything new from a sporting goods store like (REI) It's gonna get expensive and it depends on the actual bike mount you get too if you get like a High Roller mount you'll prolly spend like the other guy said $500+ but if your patient you can look on Ebay and online forums etc... and can prolly score a deal but like I said it's if you have the patience. Yeah I noticed about a 4MPG drop when I had mine on, and that was just the rack when i put my big *** DH bike up there I could watch the gauge drop! HAHAH if done right though it won't scratch the paint mine hasn't?

LOL that eg is stock n the teg is all done up of course the eg's gonna look lame if you compare it to that integra LOL they actually look good on all three I think but if your not gonna put it to use IDK about spending the cash, but it's your money go for it.

I know for a fact that a TON of people put the racks on their cars just for looks. Who actually drives around their little civic with a huge mountain bike on top? It looks ridiculous.

If you wanna waste 300 on a used one, just paypal me that money and I'll get more use out of it than you will.

haters...haters. hahaa i love haters.

are you guys hating 'cause you dont have the money to spend or what?

you guys buy jdm headlights and gay *** euro taillights...and what is their purpose? just for looks too right? whatever...

farkiller,
i have a set just for looks too. so what? i like it, looks good too. ive got nothing but compliments.

well, heres the difference with the racks on the eg and dc.
the eg has a "extended Q kit" and the dc doesnt.

for you...you dont need the extend Q kit. i dont have it. ill try to see if i can find or take a pic of my rack setup for you.

just make sure you get 69 clips for the front and 70 for the rear towers. well...69 will work for both. not much difference. but yakima recommends you get 69 for the front and 70 for the rear. just go to yakimas website and build yourself a rack. get the info from the site and look for it on craiglist or something. alot cheaper.

my setup was used, cost me 270.
bought a new fairing 70.
grand total 340.

you can find better deals, just keep searching.

a used rack is like 200-300 dollars....if you go to yakima's website and make a rack like the one on that ek it would come out to like 600-700 dollars
