Default Questions about swaping an engine in a 2001 civic

Hey my friend wants to know if he could swap another engine into his 2001 civic EX coupe 5spd using the stock trans? what engine would be good? The most he wants to spend is $4,000 for the swap including labor.

Thanks in advance.

Probably another D series with his transmission. But of that year. I know you could put a K swap in there but thats a complete change over.

K series or B18c5. Can't use that stock EX trans.

If he needs another motor because his is blown, I know of a junkyard that has 4 or 5 D17 motors in stock for around $350 each. PM me and I can get you the contact information.

Otherwise... you're not going to swap anything in there and use the stock transmission except another D17. If all your friend is looking for is more power, tell him to turbo it. You can get a good turbo setup for around $4k. A k-series would be nice, but there's no way you're doing that for under $4k.

As for swapping other motors.. Hasport now has b18c mounts, but it's a big pain in the a**, and most likely won't be legal unless you use an 01 engine and have an 01 chassis. Older motor/newer car is illegal in any pollution controlled state.
