Questions about 97 civic with y8 head.
just bought a 97 civic dx. Has a y8 v tec head.
v tec solenoid isn't hooked up though
has the stock p2e ecu. Took it apart to see if it was chipped, I've only seen obd1 chip. Not obd2. But I didn't see anything that looked like a chip.
While driving. At the start of gears, I punch it and it picks up speed quick then it seems as if valve float occurs.
In first I floor it and around 25 mph it stops picking up speed and valve float occurs I think or it just can't go no more in that gear, No rev limiter.
Idk at what rpm it starts to just stay at 1 speed at the end of the gear, this is cuz it doesn't have tach.
Is this because the v tec isn't hooked up?
If so, once I hook up the solenoid and switch, and get a p2p ecu it will run better right?
And getting a p2p v tec ecu, it won't need a tune right?
The ecu is stock and no cel. So does the engine just stop revving up because the v tec head needs to be using the v tec lobes after a certain rpm? Thanks for any help.
