Question Transmission serial numbers
I have a S80 trans in my swap and was hoping someone knew of site or how I can confirm what it came out of based on the serial numbers.

You can't!
There should be a big black stamp on it, with 3 number/letter
I believe a 96-00 civic EX tranny had a K4F tranny code.

S80 could be gsr, ctr, itr. if its not stamped lsd than u got a regular gsr. u can teel what tranny u have by looking at the holes where the axles go. if u can see through it, then you have lsd.

All these next questions are a crock of ****, because i should already know about what im asking :x
1: if i didnt have LSD would just one tire spin if if i gave it gas in slick weather conditions? becasue from the 6 months that ive had it, ive never had it do that to me.
2: Is GSR the stock tranny that comes with a b18b non v-tec motor.
3: What the acronyms "GSR, ITR and CTR" stand for :/
4: And whats the best way for narrowing it down to know what tranny i have?
any help is awesome, after asking questions like this, i might just flame myself lol

1. yes and no. Without lsd you can have 1 tire spin and even 2 tires spin. That test is not the best way to test for lsd but it works.
2. No the b18b tranny is an LS
4. Find a gear ratio calculator and compare your speed and rpm vs. a known tranny. for example i have a 99 civic si. it has a s4c tranny. in 5th at 4000rpm i do 71mph. Find out the specs on a gsr, itr, ctr, ls, ect tranny and compare what people say to what yours does.

1. If there is enough torque at the tire to initially break traction at either side and you continue to apply throttle, that tire will most likely keep spinning. Without LSD, the outcome is that one tire will spin except in the rare case where they both lose traction at the same time and at the same rate which is unlikely. Usually it is the passenger side that has less traction.
2. The GSR tranny came with GSR's only so it did not come with a b18b motor.
3. It looks like you already figured this one out.
4. If you don't know what motor your tranny came from, you can look for the three letters/numbers on the transmission case. I think someone already mentioned this. If there is a VIN number on the transmission you could figure out what car it came from. Is that what you mean by serial number?

Upon further review, you are not the original poster. just find out what motor that tranny came from. can't read the codes from that picture.
