Question on swapping bottom end out of my 00Si
I've been looking into buyin a 1.8l bottom end.. now i know when you swap engine in your car, the engine has to be the same year as the car or newer...does this apply when you swap out just the bottom end?
i'm pretty sure this is TRUE.. but i just want to hear some feedback on this
if this is the case, hard to find a 00 or new bottom end out there for a good deal :sighs:

if i was to swap to a 1.8l bottom end.. lets say i pick up a BARE block.. what parts would i be able to use from my 1.6l ? if someone could please list ALL the parts (if possible)

Dont worry about it, pretty much the only way of telling is the stamp on the head.

so if i go to smog it.. there is no way of telling the year of the bottom end??
i know the head has the stamp... 00 but if this is the case with the bottom end, i'm going to have a hell of a time finding one on a good deal! lol

your in a bad position, if you get a USDM block you will have to get the same year or newer, they can tell becuase of the VIN on the block and if it lacks the VIN then its a 94-95 block and it says C1 on it unlike the JDM block's stamped B18C. you can get any JDM block and it will work
