question on swap
currently i have a b18c type-r in a 99 coupe, and the d16y8 motor out of the coupe just lieing around. I have found a 92' Si hatchback frame for sale in well shape, and weights in at 2000lb. (the body has some rust by rear quarter panels) My coupe body condition is in really good condition, and pretty heavy. So i ask what would be better?
1)Swap the type-r over to the Si, swap d series back to coupe, sell coupe and work on Si body.
2)Leave things alone, and pass up the Si body.

The y8 and z6 motors are almost identical. IMO it wouldn't make sense to swap to something that is going to be the same. I would pass up on the Si and look for another one without body damage.

From the original post it looks like the Si hatch is a shell.... i could be wrong though.

Oh, you're right. I mis-read it. I would say expletive the Si and stick with the coupe.

Re: question on swap (JDM-EJ1)
yeah its a 92' civic si. its got ALL interior, and wheels/tires just no motor. The reason why this is hard for me, is because i can buy the car for cheap, then swap my b18 into the hatch. THEN i can put my d series motor back into my coupe, part out my d series motor, add the stock stuff back on, and sell it to a dealership.

Re: question on swap (honda_coupe)
fyi a '92 civic si weighs in at 2326lbs.
Your coupe probably isnt too much more than that.
*edit- I just did a search and found that a '99 civic coupe weighs aprox 2513lbs.
So I guess youd be dropping almost 200lbs.
