Default Question/Picture request for Lowered Civics w/ 17'' Rims

I have rims with 17x7.5 settings (the same ones for sale) I'm still debating if i should keep them or not. Hopefully you guys can help me decide. IF I do keep them, i would like to lower my car.

1) I don't want to lower it too much so that my car has trouble getting over speedbumps
2) I don't want to lower it too little and have an off-road looking civic

could you guys post up some pictures, talk a bit about your setup, and list a couple pros/cons about suspension? (Car too bouncy, rubs against wheel well, mileage went down...etc.)

thanks

I have 17 inch Enkie 5+'s wrapped in Kumho Ecsta Tires lowered with Arospeed Coilovers and KYB GR-2 struts. Sprint Racing Camber Kits on Front.

Pros-It looks ****
Corners more firmly

Cons-No camber kit on the rear means tires get destroyed quickly
Very F*cking Loud
Very F*cking Rough
Steep Driveways are off limits
Slower Acceleration
About 1 or 2 Miles Per Gallon gone
Braking Distance increased
Even with rubberband tires I cant go as low as I want so it still retains 4X4
look since the front bumber in picture is gone in place of stock one

I just recently bought winter wheels and I am honestly happier with steelies than the 17's. I plan on purchasing 15inch White Nippon Wheels this spring. Hope this helps.

I would just sell your rims and get 15s or max 16s.

WTF do people have against 17" rims on civics here?

like **** K, they look good on coupes, and certain rims look good on Hatchbacks. Civics are ******* economy cars and unless u have forced induction or a Nice N/a Setup you have NO performance anyways so run some 17's.

get an alignment to get your toe set back to factory spec, then your tire wear problem will go away.it would suck to get your new wheels and tear up those tires too.

well in my opinion, as stated abovee there would not be enough power to turn 17's and i once drove a 00 si with 17's and lowered (not sure how much) but it rub like a mother, and had less go then my stock ex did. they seem to fit on the eg civics but not to well on the ek's. personally i would never tuck 17's on mine. actually i would never go more then 2 rim sizes bigger except on say a suv. my $0.02

all thats due to the 17 inch wheels, 15 are plenty big for a civic, i think u should go with an eibach pro kit, not a very extreme drop, and get some good struts to go with it, all depends on ur budget

I have 17's on my car lowered with eibach springs (prokit) and i don't have any rubbing issues. Just make sure you get 205 40's. I had 215's that came with the rims off a 240sx and they rubbed like a *****. Only thing that sucks is that i don't have power steering so turning is a pain. unless your hitting up the strip for time slips, 17's don't make a difference in the stock wheels; at least I can't notice. Go with what you like. If your building up the motor...save the $$$ for rims and use the ones you have, then upgrade later.

Do you think a 2.3" drop would be too low with 17's? That's what I'm thinking of going with.

My first setup was around 2.5" It looked mean as hell, but was too low for potholes and speed-bumps. Tire was rubbing inside the wheel-well.
I have 1.5" right now. It's nowhere close as aggressive, but rides and handles A LOT better.
If you drop it more than 2” you should probably stick with OEM honda/Acura rims.

back in 01 still at the "ricer" stage dropped on some cheap *** apc coilovers with 17
ride was crazy bumpy...seemed like riding a horse
nothing rubbed thou
after that i dropped it all the way down, so about 3.5-4 inches, and still got around places, very very slowly up and down my driveway and on speed bumps

oh and no comment on the vtec stickers....
