question for people with jdm swaps
I know that sometimes cops will ask to look under the hood sometimes when pulled over and they check the vin, but jdm motors don't have a vin so what would they check and how would you prove you bought it if you didnt have paperwork. I'm sure the cops wouldn't understand motors can be bought from japan. Anyone run into this problem?

Cops do it all the time when they pull over "fixed-up" Hondas here in So. CA.

In Cali they are cracking down on stolen motors. best way to approach this is ref it. either way they will send you to the ref 
When you ref it, they dont ask for any paperwork anyways. But when they pull you over, they run the serial stamp, and vin, but some models doesn't have vin like the 94-96 gsr for example.

yea ive got jdm gsr, I was more afraid if they looked and saw no vin they'd think i took it off or something. Who knows, in maryland they really only ask to see under the hood if you get pulled over in a hotspot(street racing area) which I drive through daily to go home, so it worries me.
