Default question on my d15b7

im kinda new to the foreign car and honda tech thing, but ive read the rules and searched, but got no answers that could really help.
i was wondering if a vtec or a turbo or somethin would fit/work and pass smog. i just got a brand new engin put in, but i wanted a vtec but the dude said it wouldnt pass. anywho, any links to threads or any advice is appreciated.

ps. i dont really understand the "lingo", for lack of better word, yet.
thanks guys

I don't know CA law, but I don't understand why it wouldn't pass. VTEC comes straight from the factory. You need a D16Z6 head and a p28 ECU.

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=554053

This link has all the information you need on doing a mini me. But check with other people about not being able to pass smog with VTEC. That doesn't make any sense. Good luck to you.

Um you think you can clear up what your asking?

Where you wondering if a "VTEC" motor would pass?
OR
A d15b7 turboed would pass?

OR a Mini me would pass?

yes a VTEC motor (d16z6, d16y8, b16, b18c, etc...) will pass, but the motor must be the same year as the car, or newer. not many turbo kits are CARB legal in CA. the only ones i can think of, are GReddy or Edelbrock. i'm not sure if a "Mini-Me" motor will pass. search for the name Spade. he has lots of great information on this stuff.

we cant give advice on what you should do with your engine. you have to search and read on your own for that one.

FYI that engine isn't a POS. It just has weak rods.

if you're going to stay with that engine? yes it would. D16Z6 or D16Y8 head. looking into mini-me setups. look for the names BauleyCivic and Spade. there are a few other people, so just search for "mini" or "mini-me" altogether.
