Default Question on JDM aluminum A/C mount

Im swapping a us gsr into my 98 ex coupe. I am keeping the ac and power steering systems. I went ahead and bought the jdm mount cause it was about the same price as a del sol mount and is m4d jdm. Then i got to reading up on it. Turns out its not a direct replacement

Do i need to do anything other than threading the non-threaded holes?
I did a search and the only thing useful was kenji's old thread with no pics and it was talking about some tensioner which i dont think will be used in my application

You wont be using your D series compresor with that either...
You do need a tensioner...
I really suggest you just sell it, and buy a crv p7j bracket instead (since it is a lot cheaper than the del sol piece)

from all ive herd and read the aluminum mount is identical to the del sol mount. Just the holes arent threaded and if i return it i lose alot of money on shipping it back to CA from MD and i have to still pay the shipping it got here with

I really assume it is drilled for a B series compressor, not D series. Its an ITR piece, and the itr came with a B series compressor.
The p54 compressor was actually D series, as far as I know (same as the p7j)

Dont return it, sell it

yeah but that would mean all cr-v's came with D-series compressors. It doesnt matter d or b series from what ive heard the bolt pattern is identical on both pieces as well as the crv's

Youre right, that would mean that crv's came with d series compressors. Crv's are basically big EK's...

From whom did you hear that D and B series compressors are the same? That isnt correct...

I know the picture says "99-00 si" but I think that is incorrect, I beleive that is a p54
To use a D compressor, with a B swap, you have to use a p54 or p7j (latter with B18's only)

yes a P54 or crv mount. The aluminum jdm piece is identical in bolt pattern to the P54(im sure of) and most likely the crv. Im just going to go out and assume that....the pattern that bolts the bracket to the block differs from d to b series, while the pattern bolting the compressor to bracket is the same.

ill just belive kenji

or HOP

This is OEM Honda Aluminum AC Bracket as found on the JDM DC2R. Direct Bolt-on to any EG/EK/DC with B-Series motor. For those of you with B series swaps that wishes to retain AC, you can use this instead of the Del Sol VTEC AC bracket and your civic AC compressor will also bolt up to this as well!!

You need to tap threads into the holes and drill and thread a hole for the tensioner and tensioner bolt. In addition to this a very small amount of material needs to be removed for the compressor to fit perfectly. It sounds like a lot of work but is quite easy.

I have installed one of these before. It WILL work with a civic compressor, BUT you need to cut a small piece off of the bracket with a grinder or something. You do need the tensioner and hardware. Kenji's thread is correct except for one thing. I used the tensioner and hardware from a del sol vtec 96-97, and the hole I needed to tap for the adjustment arm, bolt 20 below, was NOT 12x1.5, IT WAS 10x1.25 (I think, it was 10x1.25 or 10x1). Just hold the bolt to the tap, and use the tap that matches the thread pitch.

The parts I used are 15, 16, 17, 20, 21, 22, 23

I needed to remove the material above the arrow B-47 in the pic. Cut that triangular area between the two bolt holes in the lower right corner of the bracket picture. Good luck. Let me know if you need more info help.

I noticed your in MD. I could do it for you, if you want. You provide the hardware, and we can work out a small fee ($20-$30 or a 30 pack of Miller Lite or something)
