for all the people driving a VSM civic, if you have painted your mirrors, lip, side skirts, door handles, side moldings, and license plate bracket to match your car what paint did you use? i want to paint my parts myself, and have a low budget (so paintscratch.com is out of the question). just wondering if anyone found a spray can from autozone, pepboys, or shucks, that is close to the OEM VSM color.

User "fresh pizza guy" (who has since been banned), has used the spraycan paint from Autozone in the "platinum" color, and everything he's done came out amazing.

do you think you can find the name/brand of the paint can he used? is it duplicolor or what?

I can find out. Last he told me it was the paint that they sell in the little cans and it was the platinum color. I'll find out for sure though.

if you can that would be great, i've been searching all over for the closest match in a spray can, because i don't want to spend grips at the body shop, let me know when you get it

I've been using Pep Boys Import Color equivalent to VSM...the first time I did my lip, it looked very close but I just bought the same stuff (roughly 2 years later) and it does not match well at all. I did my lip and grill with it and it looks yellowed and faded.
I'd love to know the paint code to that Platinum.

On another note...I've been trying to find out what color best matches VSM for almost a year now too. Its no big hurry to me since Im prolly gonna have the whole car repainted sometime soon anyways. But im still curious to find out what matches best.

if you're gonna paint little things like trimming and plastic pieces, it's a big waste of $$$ to go to a body shop and do that, when you can just get a spray can and do it yourself, feel me?

Krylon Bright Silver Metallic #1401 matches the best. That's what I used for mine... However, i've only seen it available online (I ordered 6 cans through misterart.com and their service was great)

that's a EX right? because i think the 99-00 VSM civics are lighter than the 96-98 VSM civics? i have a 1997 civic cx and the the paint seems to be a little bit darker in silver than yours, but i may be wrong because i haven't washed my car in a year now so the dust is formulated very thickly on my car . my color code is NH-583M-4, what is yours? do you think it'll match up right on mine? i need a heads up before i go and do it, don't want my car 2-shades of silver now... thanks!

It's a 96-98.

I'll vouch for it all matching as well.

EDIT: That car needs more Spoon mirrors Hunter.

DupliColor does make "silver metallic" paint, but not "vogue silver metallic", there are so many silver metallic paints that i don't know which to go with, that's why i started this thread...

so i guess it's between krylon bright silver metallic #1401 and duplicolor silver metallic.
