Re: (jdmvic)
Y8 manifold will be your best bet...a Z6 will be good too...all d-series intake manifolds are interchangeable...
Honestly the first thing i would change on that piece of **** motor would be the transmission...look at the difference in ratios between the EX tranny and VX tranny...especially the final drives:
CX and VX
1st-----3.250
2nd-----1.761
3rd-----1.066
4th-----0.853
5th-----0.702
Final Drive---3.250
EX/Si
1st-----3.250
2nd-----1.900
3rd-----1.250
4th-----0.909
5th-----0.750 for Si HB and Del sol Si
or------0.702 for 2 dr or 4 dr sedan
Final Drive---4.250

The VX has the catalytic convertor on the front of the engine, where as the others are after the header. If you swap to an EX/Si header you will be missing the cat.

EDIT: I guess not...according to Bone. Even though I have read that all D-series intake manifolds are interchangable. Honestly, you wont notice that much of a gain with an intake manifold. Invest in a transmission...trust me...I learned the hard way

true just changing the manifold you wont feel that much differnce, now if u were to go about upgrading all those compenents and maybe doing some head work, then you would feel some change, but i would start with a better tranny. i found d series trannys to suck to matter how you look at them for fast shifting but that just my experiences

Re: (jameskersten1)
You really cant just change the intake .. dont forget the VX has a EGR so you will need an intake with an EGR valve attached to it. most of the performance intakes will not have it.. so unless you like driving with a CEL dont bother

I swapped trannys in my VX before I swapped motors. With the VX tranny it was almost impossible to maintain 80 on the highway, without having to downshift to fourth to bring it back up to speed. Cruising around 75 in fifth gear set you at around 2-3K RPM. I slung my main shaft bearing in the VX tranny and replaced the whole thing with a DX tranny. My mileage decreased from around 375 miles per tank to around 275 miles per tank, but it was SUCH a better handling car after that.
