Default Question about Transmission

I have a 94' civic DX 1.5 L with an automatic transmission..... I want to know does anybody else experience problem shifting gears when the car is not warm......when my car is cold it is hard for me to shift gear........Do you guys think that changing the shifting cable will make the shifting much smoother??

it would help, thats for sure. My old Mazda used to do that. When it was raining out, it was easier to move because water would temporarily fix it. See if yours do the same, if so, replace the cable.

I put it in D and then drive....the problem is that before I get to D, I have to past through "Reverse" and for some reason reverse is really hard.....sometimes I have to pull it really hard and sometimes it feels like it slides.......once the car is warm the shifting is much smoother...so I don't know if this is because the shifting cable is cold or something in the transmission.

u know thats why they make 5 speeds
so people wont shift AN AUTOMATIC
you will just end up with major trans problem if you keep doing that.
but being cold could affect that.
because its hard for me to get into 2nd sometimes
in the morning.

so what do you suggest just let it warm up...and don't force it....if it doesn't want to shift, just let it get warmer till the shifter becomes smoother??

it looks like it (but i don't know automatics)
i would go to a local honda dealership and talk to the parts guys, they'll totally help you figure out what you're looking for.

at least in my area they do.

Your governor valve is probably just sticking due to the cold weather. I wouldn't worry about it. Get it checked out come spring, I doubt it'll lead to transmission failure.
