Question about State Ref in CA...
Ok, I am no pro at it, but I was wondering the process for legal engine swaps. I heard you have to have the engine newer than the car and have every smog-related thing for the USDM type engines intact. Then, you have to go to visual inspection + smog, right? I only ask because I plan to purchase a DX '92 EG, put like a B16A2 in it and dress it up... I don't want to be hassled by the cops cuz i used to have a '90 Corrado that was way overboosted and they would always cry about whatever with it.
Thanks for the help guys!

Re: (Urugly)
there is so much information about this that can be found by searching that it is rediculous.
Motor and ecu same year or newer than the car with all of the smog equipment hooked up the same way that it was in the donor car. Also, go to the ref before you<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by axtran »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">dress it up... </TD></TR></TABLE> because the refs don't like that stuff.

So, in a nutshell, pretty much is darn hard to get a state ref to approve a EG with B16A2 JDM with a regeared trans + lsd eh?
Cuz i was wondering, where am I going to find the smog stuff to fit on this?

B16A2 JDM huh?? Right....
Anyway it wouldn't be hard to pass a B16 in an EG. Get the smog equipment from a Del Sol with a B16 and hook it up like that. Get the Del Sol ecu. The ref will treat it like a Del Sol motor.
