use like 1500 grit.
something really fine.
and wrap the paper over a 2x4 so its even and clean.

thats too thin.. its likely to be used for wetsanding.. did you know that even 1500 grit cant take off clearcoat but only resurfaces it so how is it going to take off paint from the valvecover letters?

use 300-400 grit first... then 600 grit.. then 1000 grit should smooth it.. or you can use a smooth filer at first and file the letters because that wrinkle paint is really thick.. then 400 grit, 600 grit, and finally 1000 grit but its not necessary.. then you can top it off by using mothers aluminum polish wax.. it worked for me..
