Default question about rev limit on 96 ex auto

i searched and found info but nothing about an auto tranny...

i got a 96 ex and I was just wondering about the rev limit. as of now everything is stock besides cai and exhaust...its only a 4sp so naturally when i'm driving and i need to pass i rev it up high and make it shift a lot at redline...i read that people say 7k is good shift for manuals, but with the auto being a 4sp, could my engine go higher than that and still make power while sill being safe? i drive this car everyday and I don't have much money due to college, but in time i am hoping to build up the engine then eventually maybe go turbo and have a nice clean 4 door sleeper. i'm not in anyway an expert here so any helpfull tips would be great about what all the sohc can do with a 4sp auto

thanks

yeah i know that, i was asking mainly about safe rev limit, ie going above 7 redline. i am interested in with my car as is, can i safely tune it to rev higher than 7 and still make power, or woudl that harm the engine.

and note: so u guys dont think i'm a ricer from my previous post, i know its an auto and i said about putting a turbo on, naturally i would do a 5 speed conversion when i get the money of course

You can't change this shifts/rev limits on autos without getting a computer or program that will give you the ability to change/adjust it. With that said, if you plan on building the engine at all, I suggest you get a manual 5spd because honda auto transmissios are VERY weak and shitty. If you pound on them long and hard enough (as I have) the shifts will not be as smooth, and eventually the tranny will just give out. (I haven't gotten there yet *knock on wood*, and it will be replaced with a manual before the end of the year).

Now, manual transmissions, the d16y8 (ex) trans from the 96-00 civics is the best D series trans out there.

Do some searching about auto to manual swaps, and stuff like that and you will get plenty of information.
