Question about reprogramming OEM remote on 98 civic
My friend has a 98 civic. His remote (factory) just stopped working and he even tried changing the battery but that didn't work. i heard that the remote might need to be reprogrammed and this does happen sometimes. how do i reprogram it or what are my options? is this something that the dealership have to take care of?
thanks in advance

Re: Question about reprogramming OEM remote on 98 civic (BLACK EJ1)
ok i just found this out: my friend is running an aftermarket (pioneer) head unit in his car. does this have to do anything with his remote not working at all? how would he go about to reprogram the remote with an aftermarket headunit?

The factory head unit is the main source for the keyless operation in 96-98 civics.
Wont work if you have an aftermarket head unit I believe.

hmm thats what i thought. do you think a dealership is able to reprogram the OEM remotes to work with an aftermarket head unit or is that out of the question?

Re: Question about reprogramming OEM remote on 98 civic (Razor)
when I put my radio in the interior light wouldn't come on with the door on and on the back of the factory radio it listed security so I did some searching and jumped the two wires together and that fixed my light problem.

i've actually been wanting to try ripping open the stock head unit and see if i can just take out the components that are use for the OEM keyless entry/alarm. if i'm successfull, i'll probably do a write-up on it.
