question about red line on b16 sir2
i have a b16a sir2 and my tach is really messed up it is reading that my idle is at 1700, which it really isnt. i took it to a guy and he gunned it and it read 800.
so here is the ques. when i run the car it rev limits at around 8200, is this right or is it the tach that is really messed up? i just want to know because i dont know if the rev limit is either 8200 or really around 7300. thanks alot

what does your tach say when you hit the rev limiter, is it reading 8200? what kind of guage cluster are you using? where is the redline on the cluster? does your idle speed drop after the car warms up? pull up the carpet on the passenger side kickpanel and look at your ecu, in the middle of all of those numbers there will be a Pand then two numbers this is the number for your ecu.

actually a b16a2 would be a 99-00 si engine and with the obd2 ecu FUEL cut is at 8000 NOT 8200.
the stock tach is off.
the stock tach is off.

He claims his engine is a B16 SIR2, which is the second generation JDM B16.
The redline for that engine is 8200 rpm.

the car is still at around 1700 when its done warming up even after i drive it around. i will get back to you on the ecu and what the redline on the cluster says
