question about keys.

question about keys.
So i recently bought a 96 civic DX.
I cant seem to find info. But for some reason i have to use 2
different keys. 1 for doors ans trunk and 1for ignition.
Was the ignition replace. Can a key shop form both into 1 key?
Previous owner got it this way.
Any help thanks.

Re: question about keys.
Should be one key to operate all locks. The ignition lock cylinder must have been replaced at one point in time. You can have the door lock cylinders rekeyed to fit the one key for the igntion or vice versa with the key that works in just the doors and trunk by well known locksmith.

Yep that's exactly the issue there... The previous owner switched out the key mech for the ignition. I've done this myself. Any honda key was able to open my doors so last year my civic was stolen. Found it 3 blocks way 2 days later. Now all my locks are changed

New locks are like 200 bucks! I just pulled all my locks from a salvaged 97 key and all. all the locks went in no prob but the 2 trunk locks needed a little ingenuity. Now it definantly wont be so easy to steal
