question about k&n ebay filter
i'm about to buy this filter and just wondering if this is the real filter or fake. the engraving looks fake to me. is this the real deal?
*remember i'm just worried about the filter...not the piping.

as long as its a cotton & wire element, it is essentially a K&N style, even if its made by some generic company. If the filter is made of paper, its not a "K&N"

They are using the K&N logo... and have a K&N box in the pic. I doubt they would go to this extent without giving you a real one. Typically you'll see a 'style' thrown in there somewhere...
Looks good to me

If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck....I have had some bad experience w/ ebay before. But some stuff is legit. I'd go for it. At least you'll have a new filter, K&n or not.

look at his sig. he is crying that he bought an ebay "K&N type filter" and put it on his compressor housing and it melted and ruined his turbo... blames it on the filter.

Re: question about k&n ebay filter (91civicDXdude)
I'd look into the seller's feedback, find others who bought that kit, and shoot them a message. If they say its a real cotton material, it should be at least 95% the performance of real K&N. There are tons of paper ones that are colored, don't get taken by the scammers.
Since I've been dicking with & around my k&n the last few days, that is def. a fake looking stamp on the rubber. Mine is moulded (not stamped) in the shap of the K&N logo you see in the bottom left corner of that picture.
BTW, if you dig through summitracing.com, you can find all the K&N filters for good prices. Mine was around $35, one of the bigger cylinder-shaped models.
