Question about drain bolt?
i'm going to flush the coolant fluid on my car and i was reading on the manual that first you loosen the drain plug on the radiator and let the fluid drain. Then the next step says to remove the drain bolt from the cylinder block? It has a pic but i can't make out where it's at, it looks like around the heatshield for the Exhaust mani, but i'm not sure. Also why do you need to do this when the fluid is already drained?

I've never screwed around with that bolt, except on the picture that I posted.
Was into the whole car scene for a long time, and never did anything other than the thermostat and drain plug on the radiator.

when you do it through the thermostat do you have to replace the thermostat or can you use the old one?

I only took off the thermostat if I was planning on replacing it. The AutoZone near me does sell just the gaskets though, if you don't want to spend the extra $10 on a new thermo.
For important of a job the thermostat does, it's better to spend the few extra bucks and at least get a new gasket if you are planning to take it off.
