Question about the D series

Default Question about the D series

ok I know our civics come with the D16Y8 motors but what i dont know is what the hell is the E in the VTEC-E?? I never understood that

VTEC-E in the 96-00 is a D16Y5 that comes in the HX.

"VTEC-E" stands for "enhanced performance". and it comes in the HX.

Actually you're all wrong the E is for Efficiency.

It comes in the the HX and the new EX's have it aswell.

yeah on the HX, rather than having a big lobe and small lobe on intake side, the HX only opens one intake valve before VTEC-E cross over, and then both open

The 02+ Si, base RSX, and CRV has it.

12 valver below 2200 rpm.

Obviously Honda believes it's the wave of the future.

oh ok, since i understand that much, and I've also noticed that the d16y8 has the VTEC II and wats the difference, VTEC is VTEC right?
