no you don't need the M/C from the engine. what ever civic you have, continue to use the M/C for the year/model civic.
now if you want to replace it for maintenance purposes then by all means.

you mean to say you can not find a M/C for a 92 civic in missouri? any part store or dealer can supply you with one.
if not here are some links i provided:
http://advanceautoparts.com/
http://www.thehondapartsstore.com/
if you want to upgrade without having to modify your brake lines, a 91 civic ex will bolt straight to your lines and booster, anything else will need modification.
92-95 civic (cx, dx, lx (non abs)) 13/16"
91 civic ex 15/16"

you should have a stock M/C. the current measurment of the cylinder is 13/16"
the bigger you go the better braking and pedal feel you will get. but going to big without the proper brake assembly will not be beneficiary.
since you are doing a crv-vtec, i suggest that you can upgrade to a 15/16" M/C. this upgrade will work great with your current stock brakes without having to swap out your brake booster or bend any of your brake lines. even if you go with a disc setup like the ones found on integras, abs civic's and del sols (no you don't need abs) it will be an upgrade from your current M/C.
if you wanted to go bigger than the 15/16", there is of course the itr M/C which is 1", but you will need itr brakes, booster, as well as bending you brake lines, which i do not recommend you try this.

it should be very helpful!
