Default What is purpose of adjustable cam gear?

What exactly can a cam gear do for me? What do the adjustments do on the gear?Im just lazy and dont want to do the research on the skunk2 adjusable cam gear... all i know is that obviously it works with the camshaft. Any HP increase? Im looking to put it on my D16y7

If you're too lazy..you gotta be out of your ufckin skull if you think other people are going to do it for you. How do you wake up in the morning with such laziness?

And if you have a stock or close to stock motor...it wont do a damn thing for you. Get your weight up and read. I'm sure you'll find the answer to these questions MUCH quicker than it'll take for someone else to post them, and with much less flaming.

I wont even touch the fact that it seems you're trying to N/A mod a Y7.

Hey some people cant afford b series motors and even though i have that y7 im damn proud of it... it runs like it did back in 96 And by the way the stuff they post over the internet is mostly bs... I want to know it from the people that actually use the stuff. So they dont beef it up just to sell the product.. you should know that.

It's used to adjust tuning finer than the "tooth by tooth" ratio (does degrees BTDC).

Usually used on non-stock motors where the timing's adjusted for optimal performance.

Will do absolutely nothing for your car.

Word, it is very slow.

It sucks...I know the feeling, I mean not to that degree b/c the Z6 > Y7 but I know what it's like having an incredibly weak car for a change .

The HP's fine but the lowered displacement OWNZ tq. which = sucky power.

The Y8 supposedly puts out 2 more HP than the Z6 at the flywheel.

I have a Z6, it's not really that fast....it's actually ridiculously slow.

I wouldn't recommend doing the mini-me.

The d-series suck unless they're:
A: Geared for racing (high gear ratios)
B: Have a strong NA build
C: Are boosted (obviously)
D: You're going for MPG and/or reliability.

Only reason I have a Z6 is b/c I'm too ******* broke to buy a better engine.

I have a Z6.

I don't know, it's not worth it in my opinion, obviously it's worth it to others. If ya feel it's worth it go for it.

Really shootin high huh? I hope you have the chance to drive one before you buy it. Not insulting anybody..but they're also relatively slow.

I didnt mean to insult you earlier. I basically said the same information everyone else did. On a basically stock car, a cam gear wont do a damn thing. I attacked you because you said you're too lazy to research yourself, which means you'd rather US do your legwork for you. I just hate people that need to be spoon fed.

I also have a Y7, so you dont have to worry about me "looking down" on you. But unless you plan on forced induction, I really wouldnt waste money modding it.

Good luck with what you do though.

Wait wait...so you have an intake, and a T4 turbo? Wow..you're the first one to ever accomplish this. I hope you were being sarcastic. I didnt pick up on that earlier.

I would consider myself happy in life with a nice new M3. Not the fastest car in the world...but to me its a perfect mixture of speed, luxury, and a touch of baller. Not to pick up girls though...expletive those hoes. I'd buy that whip for myself and myself only.

But right now...I'll settle for something that runs without rust. I dont even need M3d Vtak!

But i'll bet my whole paycheck this kid is under 18. And if he isnt, he needs to rethink his lifes aspirations.

Syndicate is the ******* man. I think i've said that before in another post though.

Alot of talk? I'm stating the obvious. I could have a bicycle and I'd still tell you that your cam gear on your stock motor isnt doing ****.

You could have fifteen B18C5's in your car...and guess what...

30 cam gears still wont do ****, if all the motors are close to stock

Like my man Archiedus (sp?) said...its never been flaming, its an education.

I definitely wont knock the looks of that car. I have a black 99 hatch and my front end is identical to the Si's front end. I did that for a reason haha.

Faaaar from my dream car, but a nice car? Absolutely.

Would I trade mine for a stock 99-00 Si? Absolutely.

This car was not too expensive because the engine is a common b16 and even though its not nearly as fast a type r.... the b18c5 is obviously way more expensive and that b16 is a peppy engine with desent hp if this car had a b18c5 nobody would be able to afford it... its all about compromise... and if you got the loot then you dont have to worry about this b16 because u can just swap it out for that type r
