Question about a B16 tranny??
Well heres the problem I was driving my car the for about maybe 2 hours, shifting gears fine no grinds or anything. When I pull up to my house I go to park and the shifter wont even go into reverse!! No grinds or noises it just wont go in. I checked the linkage and everything looks good. Every other gear goes in fine and my clutch seems to be fine, so im guessing either I need to drain or add the tranny fluid or get a new tranny!! Help me out has anybody ran inot this before and what did you do??????

Re: Question about a B16 tranny??
yeah it has to do with the snycromesh, when the fluid warms up and become thinnner the sncro-mesh do not spin as well since there is more lubrication you probly just noticed it because your fluid may have gotten warmer than your used to from driving longer like that. It isn't a big deal at all but if it is a problem for you though you could try a heaveir weight oil.
Every car is different some cars it's easier to shift into reverse while your still moving forward slowly, others just have dead spots where it won't want to go in just put it into another gear move the car a little and it should go right into reverse. You just have to learn the tricks for your car.

when mine is cold it doesn't like reverse either i always just move the shifter to 2nd then pull it hard into reverse and it always engages that way

Re: Question about a B16 tranny??
Im going to try that when i get home but from what I noticed it does it all day, cold or warm. But I havent tried rolling up in first and then slamming reverse.

Yeah I'm no transmission expert but I assume it gets all the gears/synchros moving around so you can engage reverse easier.
