Default Question about 99Civic EX - replaced distributor - check engine light

I had my distributor replaced yesterday. I have a 99 Civic Ex. Today when I drove it into work the check engine light came on. The mechanic is closed until Monday and now I am afraid to drive. Should I be concerned? Was there something they needed to reset or something when they replaced the distributor?

Thanks

You can drive, just take it easy. When it starts blinking, then stop driving. lol

Are you serious? I don't want to risk making things worse if I don't know why the light is on? I'm not trying to be difficult. But I really need a serious answer on this. I'm not seeing any humor in the issue.

go to autozone and theyll loan you a scanner, otherwise use the paper clip method to check your CEL.

Just did the paper clip for the CEL

9 CYP - cylinder sensor is what I got. So I will take it to them on Monday to look at. I guess it will be safe to drive for now.

I recently had the same code (9 CYP) showing up on my 98 Civic DX. I haven't done a tune up over 6 years so I did one - resetted the ECU to clear the code - 4 days later the light comes back on and with the same code.

According to the Haynes car repair manual, it suggested I should check the CYP sensor located in the distributor with a multi-meter but I'm having trouble disconnecting the electrical connector. Even pushing the release tab and trying to wedge the connector with a flat head screw driver wouldn't budge it? Any suggestions out there before I break the plastic casing?
