Default Question about a 99-00 conversion

I have a 96 EK and I want to change the front end to a 99-00 EK and im trying to save some money and not order the conversion kit off password JDM, so im going to a junkyard. Now my question is. Say I buy the headlights off a 99 civic but it's not a hatchback will it fit on my hatch? Also do the parts all have to be the same year?

Like say I get the bumper and it's for a 00 civic
And I get the Headlights and they are for a 99 civic will it all fit?

Also I heard I will need to replace the grill, hood and fenders, is that true? Im fine with replacing the fenders and grill but finding a hood in good condition that isnt carbon fiber is gonna be difficult.

The headlights are the same for a hatch and a coupe. They are also all the same for 99 and 00. You will need headlights, bumper, grill, and a hood.

as long as it 99 - 00 if will fit dont matter if it's off a coupe or whatever. and yes you do need the fender's - hood and grill.

Well I just got a pair of OEM headlights off ebay for $83 with shipping and already got the bumper, next is the fenders, grill and hood. Ugh this is alot of work. Then I gotta get the JDM fog lights too.

Would it be cheaper to just get a carbon fiber 99-00 hood? Or try and search for an OEM 99-00 hood? Also which will look better in your opinion? My EK is midori.

honda hein YES he can buy 4 door parts, the only thing that is different is the grill.
EVERYTHING needs to be switched to 99-00, except the core support, you can us the 96-98.
it may be cheeper to buy a carbon fiber hood, that way you dont have to worry about painting it.

no it's not going to be cheaper if you get a carbon hood. Just get a oem hood.

^^ it may be, if he buys an oem hood, new or used it could be 100+ then he has to prep it and paint it. i have seen used carbon hoods in great shape going for like 150+

Well im going to have to paint the whole car anyways because the bumper and fenders will also need to be painted.

But I got a guy who paints the cars at the car dealership I work at he's gonna do the whole car for $500 if I buy the paint.

All front ends for '99-'00 in the US are the same (coupe, hatch and sedan).

All front ends for '96-'98 in the US are basically the same (coupe, hatch and sedan). 1996 has some slightly different parts on the car (such as a one piece grille), but the parts are still interchangeable.

Sedans have a different grille (chrome trim, three horizontal bars) than the standard coupe/hatch grille (body matched trim, two horizontal bars). The Si has the mesh grille with body matched trim. All grilles are interchangeable as long as they match the years.

1996 front end parts can be used on 1996, 1997 and 1998 models.

1997 front end parts can be used on 1996, 1997 and 1998 models.

1998 front end parts can be used on 1996, 1997 and 1998 models.

1999 front end parts can be used on 1999 and 2000 models.

2000 front end parts can be used on 1999 and 2000 models.

A carbon fiber hood will be more expensive, more work to maintain and less likely to fit well.

You will NEED to replace:
Headlights
Grille
Front Bumper
Fenders
Hood

'96-'98 hoods will NOT fit on a '99-'00 front end correctly. This is evident by the different leading edge on the hoods.

The space between the headlights and the grille on the bumpers and hoods are different sizes. On the earlier models it's thicker and on the later models it's thinner.

I swear. I really need to just measure all this stuff some time so people can't keep asking about it. Then again, I made a thread about the differences already and no one seems to find it even though I included as many key search words as possible.

I've seen a few '99-'00 fronts with Midori Green paint. Can't say it did a lot for me. I'm a big OEM person though, so seeing it just looks wrong to me.

/\ That looks sick! That will be my "goal" picture from now on. And that hood looks sweet with the green.

Is that a 96-98 with a 99-00 front end or a 99-00 painted midori?

Like he said, he's going to have to paint the front end and/or whole car anyways so cheapest way would be oem. Damn, $150 for a carbon hood in good condition. I have never seen that. and we're both in the nw.
