Default QUESTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, start I just swaped in a 99 D16y8 into a 93 hatch cx... Now I have a question and a problem for you tech's out there. Ok when I first swaped the Y8 in I was running the stock D15 ECU which is a p05 and it ran good and idled perfect. Of course I know I needed a p28 ECU to have VTEC so I got one. I wired the VTEC in did the 1 wire to 4 wire o2 conversion, but the engine revs up and down.... till it gets warm and idles fine. After this I drove it and VTEC engaged well and temperature is good and fan is coming on. NOW THE QUESTION IS, IS THE P28 GONE BAD AND NOT WORKING PROPERLY OR COULD IT BE THE IAC SENSOR? But the if the IAC sensor was bad on the Y8 then why when I ran the p05 witht the Y8 no engine light come on and idle was perfect. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT GUYS THANKS FOR LOOKING.

Well yes, I do believe so I wired everything right bc if I didnt then when I put the po5 in I would get engine light. Yes p28 wired the vtec right and the o2... got the instructions from this sight if there wrong or updated then let me know. Like it said the 4 wire o2 I ran the wires directly to the ecu and splice the wires to it.

this is the info I used on the 02 coversion:

Using a P28 ECU (and should work for most obd1 ecu's with 4-wire controls)

Run O2 Sensor signal (white) To D14
Run O2 Sensor signal Ground (green) to D22 (or any good Ground)
Run O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Control (black) to A6
Run the other black heater circuit power wire to (A25) or any good switched +12VDC source.

second me if I did the 02 conversion correctly?

Here is what the back of your ECU plugs look like:

You’ll need to run the blue wire (or whichever color is from the plug) to pin D6, and then run the black ground wire from the plug to anywhere on the motor. You then need to run the green wire from the VTEC solenoid to pin A4.

This is the directions I followed... but when I checl for codes the engine light doesnt blink just stays on?

I made a half assed write-up (I'll finish is sometime) about wiring the 4-wire 02 sensor into the CX harness, heres the link https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=2098796. I think it looks cleaner in my opinion and you can't go wrong when its the same as the factory wiring.

Yeah as soon as I'm home for a few hours with some spare time I'll be cleaning it up to make it easier to understand. Good luck with it.

lol sure. I just found out that the p28 the guy sold me was chipped for tubo plans and then chipped back to B16 specs. I was wondering why my po5 didint show any engine light, but the p28 did...
