I keep mine on #2 on all 4 corners. It works well with my car. I tried different settings, but I liked this the best for street driving The car is a 95 CX and it has Skunk2 coilovers.

I used to set it on 2 front, and 3 or 4 in the back. not too harsh not too soft.
Are you running coilovers or lowering springs?

I have mine set at 1 in the front and 4 in the back. Stiffness in the rear helps to swing the *** around in corners as well as replant the front off of a hard launch. The front being soft accentuates any swaybars you have, adding to road-holding and road-input.

i say you put it on whatever setting you like the best, because what some people consider soft might be stiff to you.

mmm, I wouldnt go with 1-4
I have mine set at 3-3 all the time,
its a good even ride. being too stiff in the rear does not feel stable at high speeds, but is good for oversteer.
2-2 is a nice setup for a daily driver, but still handles really well

I have my KYB AGX's set at 4 up front and 6 in the back. This is with an H22 in a 99 coupe. I really like the way it rides. When I had the stock D16 in I had them set at 2 in the front and 4 in the rear.
