Default Q: Piston Sizes VS Bore Sizes

I was lookin to buy some vitara pistons, but FJD says they only have 76mm pistons in stock [well for their turbo superkit]. I was wondering, if I should buy those and increase my bore size?

What difference will it make if I go with larger pistons and a larger bore?

[Also, correct me on some terms. I only had 5 hours of sleep and I aint no morning person] lol

A bigger bore means that you will need to bore out your block. That will make the motor make more power, but at the same time the sleeves are a bit weaker because they are smaller. You can also buy Vitara's on ebay, there are many sellers there. Most are MFG by YCP anyway. It really depends on your budget and the power you are trying to make. Honestly I wouldnt really do it unless u dont plan on making that much power. Since it will be easier for you to make power, yet easier for u to blow the sleeves.

x2, but if you do want to increase the bore you can get the block sleeved (reinforce the stock sleeves) so you don't blow a sleeve. If you are going N/A you really shouldn't have to worry about blowing a it only if you're going to boost it.

an NA vitara build is a step backwards. the only way to get power out of this build is boost. OP they make standard bore vitara pistons last i heard, you just have to look around for them. i dont reccomend boring out a stock block too much and throwing boost on it, you just increase your chance of cracking or blowing out a sleeve.

I run STD Bore Vitara's in my setup. The stock sleeves are fine. As long as you dont plan on reliable 400+WHP. People have said that 400-450WHP is the safe limit. But people have put down 600+ on stock sleeves, but who knows how long that will last :X

the shop i get all my tuning done at (speedfactory tuning and race fabrication) has a vitara build putting down like 615whp on stock sleeves. lasted all season so far. i just dont think boring out the block for bigger pistons is a good idea unless the block is sleeved. the OP need to find standard bore pistons

ok thanks fellas, i understand it now. might as well get STD vitaras and save me some money by lookin on ebay than gettin oversized pistons and spend money to bore it out

and yea this will be my DD for now, summer is comin up and i'm plannin my turbo build real early. i wont be looking for no 400+ whp anytime soon, 250hp is more than enough for this car
