Default Q: 5g engine swaps

I was wondering if anyone has ever heard of or seen these swaps done?

7M-GTE
3S-GTE
SR20DET

Other than that I would just go with a B18C5 in a 5G HB. Is it HASPORT that has the mounting kit?

Oh, does the HB weigh around 2,230 lbs?

That's all, thanks in advance for your help.

Never in a Honda........never been done, never will be done.

If you got money to fit those under your hood, you might as well spend it on a C32 (NSX motor) under your hood.....or behind you if you really are that rich.

I belive the GTE motor is Toyota, I could be wrong. Someone hear will know though.

The SR/RB motors are Nissan.

Honda engines are just as capable as the Nissan engines if not better, when built. The only swap that would be anywhere close would be an SR20 series engine. With the money you end up spending getting that engine in, you could get a B-series in with a ton of mods and have $ to spare.

Actually there was a thread a long time ago from a guy in Thailand with a bunch of pics of crazy-*** hybrids.

There were SR20DET 4-door civics, an MR-2-motor'd 4-door Civic as well, and some Toyota Supra powered BMWs as well.

It can be done, but in the U.S why would you?

It was explained to me that those crazy hybirds were formed from a conination of boredom and free engines, so they figured why not.

Almost all were ghetto looking but tuned with HalTech stand alone ECUs too.

Back to the B18C5 thing though:

Why would you need a mount kit for a B18C5 in a 1992-2000 Civic? You don't - it bolts right in.

Ask me how I know

Since the motors I listed are turbocharged from the factory, they would be able to handle the boost better. Their coolant passages and such would be better suited to handle the added pressure, potentially making them more reliable. I think we all know that to get real power from a small engine you have to use a turbo.

The GTEs are Toyota engines.
The SR20DET is a Nissan engine.

I think it could be done, just wondering if anyone had ever seen it done before.

Oh, and how much does the 5G Civic Hatchback weigh?

weight depends on model.. you figure is about right...

as far as honda being better as a sr20det motor... come on the nissan unit is FAR FAR FAR FAR superior...

As far as the cooling channels being a big concern for you... not really worth worrying about unless you planning on boosting the hell out of the motor and using a stock radiator... get a fluidyne or similar and you won't have ANY cooling problems... egt's might get up high enough to hurt the head but I doubt it.

And as far as the sr20 being more expensive than a honda swap come on... you can get the non-turbo block and it is only missing a short list of parts that you can pick up realatively cheap... then you skip the stock turbo and mani and get aftermarket units.

wouldn't be any more expensive than any honda swap + turbo...

I think it would be funny though... I was going to do a jetta headlight conversion y0!

got vtec? Shiot It aint even a honda motor..
