When i first go out to my car and start it up, i usually back out of the driveway so i let the engine settle once its started up for a second, and then i go to put it into reverse. Sometimes it goes into reverse stiff and i have to put into 4th before i go into reverse and then when i do put it in reverse right away it grinds, the car isn't moving and it is terrible, i feel like my car is gonna fall apart. Please tell me I don't need a new clutch, but I dont know what else it would be. Help

Your syncros are most likly shot in reverse. I have an 89 accord for my winter car, it does the same, if I have to put it in reverse, just start the car up while in reverse to avoid having to grind it.

mine does the same thing but not as bad, and my first isn't so easy to get in to either. learn how to get arounfd it or replace the tranny.

Place it into 1st gear (neutral) and then place it in reverse. More than likely it wont make that noise anymore

if it's a light grind it's normal. your intermediary shaft. throw it into second, neutral let off clutch, then into reverse. should do the trick.

honda reverse just sucks!! Put it in 1st then nuetral then 5th then reverse!! Works for me!!

Only the forward gears are synchronized, therefore you must put it into a forward gear before reverse. Read your manual, it tells you this. As a rule, I always go 1st, 2nd, reverse.

its very common because there are no synchros so you cant go into reverse while going forward, well easily at least.

I hate Honda syncros. They suck, and so does reverse, but I love the noise it makes backing out, and when you put it in 1st at like 20. Oh well, yea the reverse doesnt have a sync so, don't worry.

yup its common. just go to first and then reverse. grinds be gone!

I have an H22A in my civic hatch.. reverse worked good untill recently... i cant get it in reverse no more.. any ideas on what might cause this? any help would be appreciated thanks.
