Hey Guys I did a search and found nothing...I m going to buy a 96-00 civic hatch back...and the only thing I dont like is the inatke manifold...when honda make that...they were going for gas economy...well I dont like the manifold..it makes the car tooo slow......so I think I can just bolt on a 92-95 EX intake manifold...has anyone done this???? Let me know if its a good thing or bad???...Give me some ideas about this>??

your honestly probably not going to see any performance gains out of the ex manifold over the dx. if you spent some good money and got like a edelbrock, or skunk, youll only see 3-5 hp. in my opinion, its not worth the hastle, maybe im wrong though.

you will see and hear noticeable gains

the mod is well worth the price but it is actually more difficult than you think

if youre going to swap the mani. get the y8 (96-up ex) it flows much better. for the money compared to skunk, edelbrock etc. the gains are worth it. get an auto trans. mani. and reuse your stock throttle body and iavc. i just happen to have one if you want it. pm me

I just did a y8 manifold swap on my y7 and I added a civic EX aem short ram and gsr strut bar....I can feel the difference....it was worth it for me


Here is a write up on the y8 mani swap... read through it, there are pics too. It helped me out alot. I rounded up all the parts I needed and the rest was a piece of cake.

The difference between the manual and auto manifold is where the IACV is and how many wires are control it. On the y7 it is three wire iacv and on the throttle body. On the y8 manual it is a two wire and connected on the manifold. On the y8 auto it is a three wire and on the throttle body. If you just want to do the manifold swap get the y8 auto manifold.

well if im doing the swap does it really matter, cause i have to reuse my y7 tb anyways, and on the y7 the iac is on the TB.

You don't have to use the y7 throttle body if you get the y8 auto manifold. If you get the y8 manual you'll have to plug the holes where the iacv on the manifold is.

yeah, you can do it but your best bet for oem air flow for the d-series motors is the d16y8 manifold, it will bolt right on to the dx head with moving only two studs for the manifold. the d16z6 manifold will open the motor up than the dx manifold but a lot of people are doin the d16y8 upgrades for better flow with the right air-fuel tuning you would get about 5-6 horsepower out of it.

Moving two studs? Never heard of needing to do that!
