Put in new CV Joints yesterday
Thanks Tom for the CV thread. I was going to let someone else do them, but I decided to tackel the task. Pretty easy, the hardest part is taking off the axel nut. I had to use a rachet with 4 foot breaker. Broke one Snap-on and a Craftsman rachet. So you might want to try an impact. My passenger boot was busted so grease was all over the place. It took around 2 hours

Hey Caveman,
I put up a post yesterday and it appears my outer CV boot finally tore and I gotta replace it. I'm too much of a novice to do it myself, but do you have any idea how much it costs for the job? I know I need to replace the boot itself, but I guess I need to replace the whole joint? Thanks for any help....i just don't wanna get screwed by the mechanic telling me I need to replace things I don't.

Re: Put in new CV Joints yesterday (bwan24)
I don't know the going price for both sides. It cost me 60.00 per axel at Autozone
Plus gear oil. So I guess if you took it to a mechanic it would be around 400.00. Once you get the first side done it's easy. It's just the axel nuts. Don't fix the boot replace the whole axels. Much easier.
