Purple Headlights Bulbs Legal?
I'm getting purple head light bulbs with a purplish tint for my civic on ebay. Are they legal? Don't some car come with them from the factory? The ad says it's 100% legal, but I want to confirm this.

No colored lights are legal in washington, it may vary in other states. I believe the bulbs will say "DOT" legal if they are.

It is completely dependent on State laws. Even having a DOT number will not save you from having to fight the ticket. Blue and White are your best bets, but still CAN get tickets! Don't be fooled by anyone, remember that ALL bulbs that aren't yellow/amber/light white are possible targets! Cops can and will still give you tickets.
Many new cars come with HID's that are purple, white, blue. But it is illegal to change to that color, bc manufacturers "supposedly" go through hoops to make their factory housings approved. Just FYI...

Factory HID's only appear purple/blue above the cutoff line (prisim effect). The light they emit is actually a more pure white.

true to the most part, if you look at GMC Denali's they actually emit a very very yellow light until you rise above the prism line!

I would recommend not giving the cops any reason to ever pull you over, trust me there are times when you don't want to deal with them! I know someone who was pulled over for blue bulbs and got a $3,000 emissions ticket as well!

I think that those may not actually have HIDs (If I'm wrong, sorry). I know the last generation of camaros had fog lights with identical projectors on them. They had standard bulbs (yellowish light), with a severly prismatic cutoff line. From a distance they looked just like HIDs (purple & blue), but when it hit bumps, the color shifts to red & orange. If they arn't HIDs, I'de bet those lenses would look nice w/ an HID system (the cutoff prism may be too bright though).
