Its easy to do. If you don't mind more road noise go for it. The only place I have tar is on the front floor but I have a cx. You might have more. This is what mine looks like.

Unless you're prepared to take out the tar and the big mat behind the dash, I would just leave it. The road noise will be worse, and the tar and the dash mat are ugly to look at and hard to clean.
In other words, leave carpet in unless you're going all the way.
BTW Skye the intro page to your skyec.*********** site made me laugh uncontrollably just now. Something about the image of a cat hauling away a donut to munch on somewhere I guess.

no is easy just take out the seats (fron only needed)take the center consol out.rip out the carpet.there are plastic things on the sill of the dolor and pull the carpet out of the **** that hold it in and rip the carpet out from under the back seats. and basicaly thats it. (ps a razor knife might help)it is goin to be pretty damn loud without that carpet its surprizing how much deadining and insulating it really does.

Here is my how-to on removing the carpet: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=512955
I actually don't miss my carpet at all, the noise that did increase wasn't too much louder than stock, and it is 100% liveable, nobody who has ridden w/ me has ever complained.
Here is my how-to on removing the sound-deadening tar: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=525936
After removing the tar, the floor looks like *** with the 2-tone red/gray primer, but i don't really mind it all that much. Just get some paint ready if you want the floor color to match.
And the sound hardly increased after i removed my tar... although their seems to be some reverberation going on inside the hatch some times.

I agree. You don't save much weight. My last car had no carpet and I hated it... I wanted to put carpet back in it, but couldn't find any and didn't want to pay $400 to get some from the dealer
