Default puddle of water in passenger foot areaa ?????

here is a previous post i made ...

"wassup fellas . i just bought a b16 eg . and the firs couple days that i drove it , it drove real nice and hard . then after a couple days , i decided to degrease and wash out the engine bay . I did wat exactly honda-tech recommended and i covered the dizzy and the intake , then sprayed simple green all over the engine bay , brushed it , and rinsed it off . started driving the car again and it drove great . then a couple days ago , i took a 2 hour road trip , drove fine and got to where i was going . that night , it rained . and the following day , i started driving back home and the car started to drive bad . at times , at low RPM , the car would sound and feel real throaty like a WRX , kinda sounds like its bogging , and sometimes when i floor it , it would kinda like clear it up and at vtec , drives fine . but since i got it back home , now it drives bad at all times . can anyone help me out and maybe help me figure this out ?

if it matters , the car never had an intake on it since the day i got it . "

so i have been trying to figure out why the car drive not so well . I was looking around inside the car and I noticed that the passenger side foot area of the car is soaking wet . i cant figure out where the water come from but i think it might have made contact with the ecu . the ecu didnt soak in water but water did touch it . can this cause anything ?

Well, there is a "drip tube" that comes from under the passenger's foot well area and goes through the firewall. That would be a good place to look for starters...

Well, the ECU is on the kick panel... I don't think the water would have run all the way over there. Is it wet?

SUN ROOF OR NO SUN ROOF? I'm not real sure that your water problem is related with your engine problem. The sounding like a wrx sounds like a missing cylinder/ ignition problem but that is hard to tell about? if an ecu got wet while power was applied it would fry and do a lot less than not run right.

An easy way to check is if you have a buddy with an eg run his ecu for a minute or two to see if you get the same preoblem. If so you know if would be a harness or engine problem maybe from the degreasing job you did, hard to tell again???

i did spray water on top of the motor .... but there is that piece that covers it .. i'm not sure what its called but it covers the spark plug wires .

tomorrow , i will take that piece off and pull the spark plug wires off and check inside .

how should i clean the inside ? just use a towel and try to soak out any water thats in there ?

i got water in my spark plugs once and the easiest way i found to get it out was i bought a 99 cent antifreeze tester( its a tube with a rubber bladder/pump on top, it looks like a minuature turkey baster or some ****) its a lot easier than trying to stuff a towel down the holes to soak it up.

Does your car have a sunroof ?? The drain for the sunroof is probably leaking. You need to remove your sparkplugs and check those. The sparkplug seals on your valve cover might be bad, if your plugs are covered with oil you'll need to replace those. Let us know

I've degreased/washed my engine several times and I never use a bag to cover up anything no problems so far. I would worry about the ecu is if it was submerged in water .

Does it smell like engine coolant inside the car? it could be the engine's heater hose that connects to the heater core, on the firewall. This happened to me, and also the low coolant caused the engine's idle to go up and down./

check your roof seams...check your front windshield and make sure it is not crooked...run water down your windshield and see if it leaks in by the heater blower. Or strip out the interior and run water over the car and trace it out like i did.

i wll try to pour water on the car and sit inside and see if i can find the leak .

but good news guys , it was water in the spark plugs . so since the plugs and wires were already out , i replaced them also with new ones . the car is exciting to drive again . please excuse if i say anything that is "noob" but first time driving and chirped first , second and third .

but at the moment , the car is bouncing all over the place and i'm trying to think of a nice suspension setup . i'lll try to keep reading and if i cant find the info i'm looking for , i'll make a new post about it .

thanks fellas for all the input and suggestions .

make sure u check under the car and look at the floor boards?
maybe u have a cracked floor board or a hole
did u hit anything?
pull up the carpet
check the window seems
check every crack of the car
as for the engine
do a tuneup
u most likely need one anyways
always great to do one
