Than save your money. Bolt ons will barely get you anything from that motor. Do a mini-me headswap, motor swap or turbo; those are your only options.

You have plenty of choices - LS swaps can be had for as low as $800 or so. They'll put out 140 hp at the crank and more torque and other B - series swaps bc of a larger displacement 1834cc. Good choice for turbo-ing later too.
For a good deal more cash, maybe around $3k for a legit USDM GSR, you'll add 30 more hp at the crank and a vtec head, but will drop slightly in displacement 1797cc.
In my opinion, these are your best two options without spending your life savings on a B18C5 ITR swap. Of course there are also, B16 swaps, but they are smaller 1595cc, so they only provide around 110 ft/lbs of torque.
I would think about these options before swapping to a Z6 head; DOHC ultimately has more potential as do the larger displacement blocks. There are no SOHC 1.8L swaps readily available for a Civic.
Good luck

y8 or z6 would be your best bet, both are d series so you dont have you change the tranny, axles, and everything else like that..
I believe the y8 and z6 would be the cheapest thing you could easily do.

But that can cost alot of money, and not yield any significant gains on a stock DX motor.

Nothing is cheaper than nitrous as far as power gain per dollar goes . . .
If there really was some magic power-increasing modification that was minor, easy, and cheap to do, believe me we'd all be doing it.

that should give you enough reading and a chance to make your decision on what to do with your car.

You don't need a DOHC engine for his car to have a lil pep in its step. You could spend less than 3 grand and turbo charge an entire z6 swap(engine, tranny and all) and whip GSR swapped civics all day long.....But anyways, just shop around, I am buying my entire z6 swap for 425, complete engine, tranny, axles, and linkage. doesnt come with ecu, but for 425, i cant beat that price. and after that, you can do some minor bolt on like i/h/e and still not spend more than a grand(maybe a lil over, but sure as hell beats 3 grand for a gs-r swap. but don't let anyone tell you that you need a DOHC engine to have a quick car.
