Proper part names?
I had a spring check up done to my car, well, in the spring and along with that they replaced the Transmission Input bearing. I enjoy doing the smaller, simpler jobs so i let them deal with the transmission.
But in the spring check up they told me i need to replace:
- Left front Swaybar End Link
- both Front Inner sway bar bushings
- both Rear Inner Sway bar bushings
- Right EXT. Rack Bushings
I went get the parts priced elsewhere so i could do this job myself in a week or so and there seemed to be confusion on what the "Left front Swaybar End Link" and the "Right EXT. Rack Bushings" were.
For the Left frontswaybar end link the guy assumed it was the left tie rod end
And for the Right EXT. Rack Bushings, he had no idea.
So i ask you fine young ladies (NOFX) and gentlemen what are these parts?
And on a side note, if the parts in question are the tie rod ends i think the spring check-up guys are trying to take advantage. I changed the Inner/Outer tie rod ends about a year and a half ago. My alignment is still perfect and my steering is still tight.

Shady shop?
I think you went to one of those shops where you get some work done, and they say you need more work done so you pay them extra cash.

Sorry OP, I can't think of what a EXT. rack bushing is. External?
Too much I guess...

Yea, the parts guy at the dealership thought that EXT maybe stood for Extension. so maybe Extension Rack bushing????
I think i will replace the front and rear sway bar bushings as they are ~$5 a piece and take about 30 mins to do or so, then take it to a 3rd party for a fall check up and see what they say.
Does anyone know how to visually inspect tie rod ends? IE what are visual signs that they are in need of replacement?

Up and down play, similar to a ball joint.

Jack the front of the car up, and check for play in both wheels.

what? at a dealership...honda??
I'm *** uming it means exterior bushings. meaning the rack bushings. just get both. if ones bad, the other will go soon.
and tie rod ends are check by rotating the wheel back and forth (side to side) while checking movement in the tie rod end ball joints. While on the ground.
Inner are diagnosed by removing the outer tie rod from the spindle and moving the inner/outer tie rod in and out, and in a circle.
