Default Which prop valve for rear discs?

How do you tell the difference between a drum 96-00 Civic prop valve and a 4040 one? Theyre not labeled like the older style valves and Im not sure if the car I pulled the discs from has a 4040 valve too or the previous owner didnt bother to upgrade

Wonder why you aren't mentioning which car you pulled the parts from?

I pulled the discs from another ek coupe (not EM1). Thats what I meant by "Im not sure if the car I pulled the discs from has a 4040 valve too or the previous owner didnt bother to upgrade". Sorry, I should have been more clear.

Hm. I bought one used from a DX since they are the same part number as an SI. But looking at it in my hand there aren't any real markings on it to identify what it actually is. At least, none I'm familiar with.

Doing some checking now.

I just looked it up, youre right. Thats crazy, why would they be the same? The only thing I can think of is that by utilizing the smaller discs in front (unlike the EX), and drums in the rear, it somehow balances out similarly to the Si front and rear discs. Kinda confusing.

There is no way to tell unless you have some sort of fluid pressure reading system you built. I went through the same thing. Not that it really matters but I am guessing you got it from an EJ if youre in USA, but if you have the whole VIN from the car you pulled it from you could be able to tell the prop type. Only way to be sure is to get it your self from a civic with rear discs. Thats what I had to do. You can also just throw it on and go to a track and slam the brakes and see which ones lock up first >_>
