Default Project Piggy Bank Civic HX

It's been a few years of being out of the game but I've remained lurking the forums and watching everyone else play the game I played for many years. With multiple builds under my belt including friends cars I figured I will share the fun of my current Penny Stacker. After going through a divorce, selling my house, selling our rental property, and all my toys and starting my life over at 30yrs old I decided to make a smart choice and get me a gas saver.

After doing some math and figuring up that I was paying nearly $600 a month in gas in my Jeep a friend and I took a trip and picked up a 1998 Honda Civic HX; rust free which was my only concern. Well for the last couple years I've gotten everything balanced out, back on track, and have been juggling the idea of turboing the gas saver just to keep me from diving into a car-payment. Well I was cleaning out the garage and ran across multiple parts left over from a few builds in the past. (I can share pics if interested of previous builds) So I hit up my buddy who's car I had a strong hand in building with little to no labor cost and he tossed a few more parts my way and I finally decided to do a home-made turbo kit ONCE AGAIN for another civic.

My ultimate goal here was to turbo my car for NO MORE then $500, keep AC, keep PS, stock exterior, AND stock exhaust. Now I know most of you did a "wtf" with the stock exhaust idea. Yes I know it will slow down spool time, yes I know it will bog down the car, yes I know this; I will be running a Electric Cutout as well. I'm not looking to break any HP records, or land speed records. I just like to have fun! This idea has been juggled for over a year and part sourcing has been as well. Lets just say I've accommodated everything for under $500, not a single thing stolen. All of it has been donated, purchased, or traded for. Not any cheap stuff either. Well this past week I've decided to finally start putting stuff together for it. On with the pics...

Here is an older pic of the car:

The HX wheels are gone since I converted the front brakes to SI/EX Brakes and not a fan of shaving down my caliper or running washers/spacers.

On to the fun..

Parts List:
Homemade intercooler Piping
HKS BOV
Garrett T3 .42/.48ar
Internal Wastegate 8lbs
RC 440cc Injectors
Walbro 250
Sunpro Gauges w/ LED conversion
EMUSA Intercooler
Cast Iron Manifold
Chipped P28 w/ Phearable Data basemap
Electric Cut Out

Most recently I made the intercooler piping and fitted my intercooler. Also test fitted my turbo with IW to make sure it would clear AC; its close...

Fitting Test...

More to come once the weekend gets here....

No the car will NOT remain on a basemap. A good friend of mine is tuning it, the $500 budget did not include the tune.

Not much of an update since I spent most of the night helping prep a buddies car for paint. But my friend who is a big Ford guy helped me out and made me a flange for my downpipe. Since its internal gate it requires a odd 3 bolt.

Friday should have some updates, I plan to make the downpipe, brackets, and finish up my gauges.

This coming Thursday should have some solid updates. I've been working so much and also had to replace my rack and pinion so it delayed everything.

I did get my Electric Cutout in the mail finally so now we officially have everything.

Well got the car done in 2 days and having it tuned on Sunday. Had some minor issues but got it all squared away.

Made this little hideaway for my cutout switch:

and no cap:

And on to the build..
All black:

Setup with blockoff plate:

And the biggest headache:

Downpipe, IC piping, and Electric Cutout all fabbed. (Yes I'm running stock exhaust )

sucks to have ur exhaust that close to your intercooler piping heating it... I would wrap your exhaust there.

Yeah i know it.

I plan to wrap it today before we tune it. But I'm having a small boost leak, so I have to dig into that first.
