Well I thought you would look.
I have a 98 ek with a ls vtec swap b18 block w/b16 pistons 99stock b16 head 98 ex wiring harness, obd2-obd1 converter,p28 chipped.
the problem is that at first I had someone I met through urban-racer do the swap. The kid told me he knew what he was doing.
Well he put a b16 head gasket on the engine witch now I know that it need to be a ls head gasket. Before it wasn't popping vtec. Well short story short I fixed the head gasket.
When I drove it after it was installed everything seemed great. It was popping vtec first, second, and third gear. When the car was on third gear it started making a "back firing noise" really loud. The car shut off and started ******* up. I had my boys fix the car after the kid from urban racer. He knows what he is doing. My boy told me the engine is fine. He checked the compression and he said it was 230-235 on off.
The engine was making a weird noise and some smoke came out the Intake Mani. . The weird thing is when u let it sit for alittle bit the cars gets fine for about 5 mins. The only code its throwing is the o2 sensor. It is not connected but my friend said that cant be the problem. Well his his going to hook it up later when he gets a chance maybe tomorrow.
So my question did this ever happen to you? Or can the o2 censor be the problem. Please any input from people who have done this simple swap would help thank you.

Did you break the engine in properly? If not, then all bets are off.
2nd. The dipshit that built that engine should not have if he doesnt know what hg to run. Id be worried about how long that bottom end is going to last now.

Yea I know what your saying. The car keeps turning off. We changed the distributer like 2 times. I put a b16 one and nothing changed then today I put a Ls one and nothing. Still the same.

first of all.. you'll need to run the obd1 dizzy with the obd1 ecu/conversion harness combo..
you will need to swap some wires around on the ex harness to use the obd1 dizzy..
pm keebler65.. tell him Joe (redlinetuning) sent you.
what are the compression number across.. you may have bad chambers.

even though he has the 0bd2 to b0d1 jumper harness he still needs the 0bd1 dizzy? i thought it was that but i dunno

ok.. sure.. but.. Keebler65 has an obd1 conversion.. has an obd1 ecu/dizzy.. Charlie_Moua has an obd1 conversion.. and was there helping with the conversion.. he's got an obd1 ecu/obd1 dizzy.. I'm not saying i'm right.. but I've seen it.. and It works flawlessly.. Take it for what it's worth.
bad chambers.. what i meant was he's probably got a compression leak .. if the numbers are squeued 230-235.. on off..
EDIT: btw.. your LS dzzy will not work properly.. just an FYI.
