Default Problem starting car...

What up fellas,
My lady's ride, 94 Del Sol, has a problem starting up right now and we're not sure what it is. It's not the battery b/c everything still lights up fine and it will eventually start up after turning the key several times. Before it eventually starts, there's a loud cliking/popping/knocking-like noise and then it slowly fires up. When I popped the hood, the noise appears to be coming from behind the intake manifold somewhere?? Not too long ago we had to replace the entire key lock tumbler b/c some jerk-off tried to steal it but couldn't. They did however, manage to f***-up the old key lock. Could this have something to do with it?? or is it some other ignition/starter problem? Can someone help us please b/c we also can't afford to take it to a shop right now, so I want to try and fix it myself. Thnx!!

No, that's the only light that doesn't come on after you turn the key. How do you check the codes?

If the check engine light doesn't come on at all than its in the ecu. The check engine light should come on until the fuel pump is finished pumping the initial fuel for start up(priming the motor to start) But I had a similar problem with my EG hatch that was because of an alarm. Does her car have an alarm?

No it doesn't have an alarm, it does have one of those, I don't know what it's called, but it looks like a computer-chip-key you pull out. You think this could be causing the problem? This chip is suppose to prevent it from being stolen once you take it out.

The check engine light is not blown b/c when you turn the key sometimes it lights up slightly, but it never stays on that long, so I know it's not blown.

uninstall the security key it is what is causing the problem the yellow wire under your knee gaurd is the reason why your car is not starting just uninstall the whole system because it is going to cause you to get stuck somewhere. IT is easy to uninstall the whole thing just pull the box where the key goes in and follow all the wires back to their connections and connect all the wires to their mates. and your problem will be solved I had the same exact system by audiovox and it caused the problem.
