Problem with Clucthmasters Flywheel!!!
Hey guys I was wondering if anyone else has had problems with the Clutchmasters Flywheel. I had mine on for about 6 months and it started making a huge noise so my friend pulled it off and all the holes that the bolts go through were wore out and it was wobbling back and forth. My suggestion is not to buy one, go with the ACT, stay away from Aluminum!

I'm using the ACT Maxx Extreme pressure plate w/a 4 puc disk, I know 4 puc sucks *** I wanted a 6 but I was inside a timeflame and I couldn't get one, anyway my friend Adam (Kataku2k3) installed everything and did my swap, I trust him.

was it an unsprung disc? usually puck style clutches eat up flywheels like nothing.. and at times I've seen puck style clutches not eat them at all.. but I am not suprised that they were running a puck style clutch and this happened... sorry to hear about your problem.. I have an action clutch stage 1KS and clutchmasters flywheel for 1 yr no problems what so ever..

Thanks Albert, I personally just don't like aluminum flywheels yet alone CM parts... ACT or Tilton for me By the way when installing flywheels/clutches I always use Permatex high temp (red) loctite and quadruple check my torque... Maybe I just fucked up... haha

4 puck unsprung is more of an aggressive clutch. Did you break everything in properly? How was your clutch chatter?

Fidanza flywheel works great for me and I drive my car like it was meant to be driven.

I have been running a CM 9.5 flywheel for about a year with no problems. My clutch is a 4 puck sprung hub though so it might be different. Don't be quick to jump the gun and blame the product. Maybe it was a installation error.

i would recommend that my friend's (b16a ferio on this board) flywheel came loose beacuse he didnt torque the bolts down enough when he installed it...make sure you have a torque wrench and some loctite for the bolts (the highest strength) and make sure that bitch is on good

Nothing wrong with Aluminum....besides the fact that you can turn them and they are cheaper then chromoly.

I second this
My brother has a Fidanza in his Maxima, and he's not having any problems either.

Fidanza flywheel = Clutch Masters flywheel
I'm gonna bet my money that you did not use locktite on the bolts, they worked thamselves loose and wore out the threaded holes. Jump back up on the horse man

Re: Problem with Clucthmasters Flywheel!!! (hot_EG)
Yup I used loctite, I torque in sequence just as I do when assembling a bottom end or cylinder head... 25 -> 50 -> 75 -> 76 ft/lbs (for the flywheel) Most people aren't that picky but I am... Albert was very easy on the clutch while breaking it in... Not punching the car or anything just as you would breaking in a motor... He had over 600miles on it before he even reved it up... All city driving too... Maybe I just can't install a clutch, (Jesus Christ, that would suck)... As for Fidanza flywheels, I don't like them either... Our shop ordered some awhile back which were labeled with the tempered coating but were not... First time at the track 2 of my friends' running them tried to launch which welded disk to the flywheel... As I said before ACT or a Tilton setup for me... Just my thoughts again... Latez
EDIT: I SAID I USED LOCTITE IN MY FIRST POST, I ALWAYS DO... AS FOR THE BOLTS THEY DID NOT BACK OUT... RATHER THE FLYWHEELS HOLES JUST OVALIZED... THE VIBRATION FROM THE FLYWHEEL WELDED LITTLE BITS OF ALUMINUM TO THE FACE OF THE CRANK WHICH I WAS LUCKILY ABLE TO GET OFF BEFORE REINSTALLING A STOCK FLYWHEEL
