problem with axles/cv joints
a couple days ago, i was making a slow 5-10 mph turn out of a parking lot. all the sudden, i heard a grinding noise. i pulled into another parking lot and opened my hood and found grease all over the passenger side of the engine bay. i noticed a ring missing on one of the cv boots so i replaced it and filled it back up with grease hoping that would fix my problem. nope. sence this happened, first gear is very jerky along with reverse. second gear jerks and third gear grinds into gear. from 25-40 mph, the car shakes. my auto tech teacher says i need a new passenger side axle because i have a bad inner cv joint. is this what i need or could it be something else?

Re: problem with axles/cv joints (persain488)
If it was grinding it's probably already too late to repair it, the joint's probably gone or close apparently. I'd definitlely replace the axle.

Re: problem with axles/cv joints (CXHatchback)
Yea, replace the whole axle. If your trying to save money, do the napa axle swap with the lifetime warrenty. I just had mine replaced too. Feels alot better now.
